The St. Cloud Metropolitan Transit Commission (Metro Bus) was created by the Minnesota Legislature in 1969 to operate as a Transit Authority.

OPERATIONS CENTER

Built in 1985 with several additions, most recently in 2017, the Operations Center is home to Metro Bus administrative offices, Dial-a-Ride call center, maintenance shop and vehicle storage.

TRANSIT CENTER

Multimodal transfer facility in downtown St. Cloud, built in 1992 and remodeled and expanded in 2012. Metro Bus is the local Jefferson Lines agent, and intermodal connections made with local private taxi companies and public rural transit systems. Northstar Link Commuter Bus hubs from this location.

MOBILITY TRAINING CENTER

Located in downtown St. Cloud, the Mobility Training Center features a simulated street environment for training & assessing an individual’s physical & cognitive abilities as they pertain to using public transportation. The Mobility Training Center is also home to the Community Outreach & Travel Training program.

  • 67 Bus Shelters, including two partially enclosed waiting areas to Crossroads Center
  • 14 Benches
  • 850 + signed bus stops
  • Transit Center: Building with access to indoor waiting, restrooms, customer service and vending. Primary hub for most routes.

  • Opened a Mobility Training Center, 2014
  • Operate a fleet of CNG fueled buses, 2014
  • Operate a CNG fueling station with outside sales, 2014
  • Partner with a state university to subsidize bus rides for students. Started with deeply discounted bus passes in 1988, and made free in 2003

GREEN FLEET

CNG fueled buses currently represent over 50% of our combined Fixed Route and Dial-a-Ride (para-transit) fleets. This number will continue to increase with additions of new CNG Fixed Route and Dial-a-Ride buses throughout 2018 and 2019.
