Free Ride Weekend and Open House
As a thank you to our passengers and communities for 50 years of support and patronage, Metro Bus will be celebrating with a Free Ride Weekend October 25-27. All Metro Bus Services – including Fixed Route, Dial-a-Ride, ConneX and Northstar Link – are free from Friday through Sunday of that weekend.
In conjunction with the Free Ride Weekend, Metro Bus is hosting an Open House on Saturday, October 26 from 1-3 PM at the Metro Bus Operations Center located on Franklin Avenue in northeast St. Cloud. A shuttle from the Transit Center in downtown St. Cloud to the Operations Center will be available at 12:45 PM as well as a return shuttle at 3 PM for those who wish to use the bus to attend the Open House.
Two tours, beginning at the Operations Center and continuing to the Mobility Training and Transit Centers, will begin at 1:15 PM and 2 PM. Buses will bring tour participants to the downtown facilities and return to the Operations Center.
Metro Bus was formed as the St. Cloud Metropolitan Council in 1969 and started service in October of that year. It currently has 67 Bus Shelters, including two partially enclosed waiting areas to Crossroads Center, 14 benches and more than 850 signed bus stops throughout the four-city transit service area. Metro Bus provides over 1.6 million rides per year.
Metro Bus is thankful for the support of the communities of St. Cloud, Sartell, Sauk Rapids and Waite Park. Without them, we would not be here to serve the public. Thank you for a great first 50 years and we look forward to serving for many decades to come!
