Metro Bus to reduce service starting at 10 am today, Jan. 30
While many businesses, including the United States Post Office are closed today, Metro Bus remains open and is modifying its schedule to ensure the most reliable service possible.
“The schedule is very similar to our Sunday Service,” said Dave Green, Operations Manager for Metro Bus. “The main difference is we will operate until 9 or 10 pm as usual, versus the earlier closing on weekends.”
Changes to start at 10 am and remain in effect for the rest of the day:
- Routes 6 and 21 will not be in service (use Routes 7 and 22 instead).
- Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 22 will become hourly service only for the rest of the day, departing the Transit Center at :45. Routes 8 and 12 will also operate hourly, departing the Transit Center at :00.
“Safety is our number one concern,” said Ryan Daniel, Metro Bus CEO. “We advise people not to travel if they don’t have to — but if they do, we are here to serve.”
The extreme cold temperatures impact bus operation and cause delays. Reducing service allows Metro Bus to provide reliable service. There is no change in service to Routes 10, 31, 33, ConneX and Dial-a-Ride. Northstar Link Commuter Bus service will also operate as regularly scheduled.
