‘Jolly Trolley’ mobile food drive starts Monday, Dec. 10

Three local businesses, St. Cloud Metro Bus, Royal Tire and Townsquare Media, are teaming up to host the annual Jolly Trolley food drive
at area grocery stores Dec. 10-14. The mobile drive is at a different store from 4-7 pm each night, using a Metro Bus CNG bus as the collection vehicle. The Jolly Trolley food drive benefits food shelves located in the Metro Bus service area: St. Cloud Salvation Army, Catholic Charities and the Promise Neighborhood.

“The Jolly Trolley is a holiday tradition,” said Ryan Daniel, CEO of Metro Bus. “It’s about taking care of our community. We are grateful for the employees of all three organizations who generously volunteer their time staffing the event and for the wonderful cash-matching opportunity offered through the Charity Challenge.”

The Charity Challenge is provided by the Norman C. Skalicky Foundation and Central Minnesota Community Foundation, which matches every dollar donated to participating food shelves (up to $150,000) by Dec. 31. Jolly Trolley beneficiaries St. Cloud Salvation Army and Catholic Charities qualify for the matching funds, as well as the Community Food Shelf in St. Joseph, which is not part of the Metro Bus service area or the Jolly Trolley food drive.
